Frannie and Philip Leach attended the Re-Opening of the Leach Pottery in St Ives on Thursday March 6th (www.theleachpotterystives.co.uk). This was well attended including the Japanese ambassador
and several Japanese who had flown over especially for the event. A lot of money has been spent on the restoration including the construction of a Japanese style building to house Bernard Leach's life history.
Philip and Frannie are contiuing to sell in the Takashimya department store in Tokyo and hope to have an exhibition in Gallery St Ives (www.gallery-st-ives.co.jp) in Tokyo, in 2009."

David has been writing a series of articles for Furniture and Cabinet Making magazine on the use of inlay tools. This has been prompted by some new tools from the Lie Nielsen tool works in Maine USA.
Bob Seymour takes all the photos for David's articles but has never had a front cover shot before now. So they are both very pleased by the front cover of F and C number 140 which features David.
David will be at Yandle's show in Martock on April 11th 12th , on the Classic Hand Tools stand with Mike Hancock. where he will be demonstrating just what exceptionally sharp tools can do! Once you have been spellbound there may still be an opportunity to book onto one of his week long tool sharpening courses this summer.... or if you really want to master the skills there may even be a place on his three month course that starts in September. Have a look at David's website for details.

Most people go to see a film to follow the story, ogle the stars or revel in the special effects. Hartland-based fine furniture maker James Morley had something else on his mind when he and his wife, Di, went to see the Golden Compass recently. Their Walnut Library Steps were selected to feature in this block buster, which was released in December 2007.
